Why I Do What I Do
My spirituality was propelled when my grandparents passed roughly two years apart and I embarked on a two-year healing journey. When my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer, she was already at stage 4. For two long years, I watched one of the strongest women I knew slowly deteriorate. She lost the battle to cancer just before I was to receive my Bachelor’s degree, none of my efforts to save her life worked.
Roughly a year and a half after her death, my Pop Pop passed. Since he was a Veteran, he spent most of his time at the VA (Veterans’ Affairs) hospital to cope with losing my grandmother, his best friend. One day, he went missing and I coordinated with his cousin to find him. Finally, she found him, at the morgue. That was devastating. At least he got to see me on graduation day!
I was SO close to them. I’ve learned so much from them. How could they no longer exist?
While all of this was going on, I was completing my Bachelor’s degree and worked part-time, then full time. My grades were dropping, I could barely focus at work or in school. I was constantly crying in the bathroom stall or on the bus. My GPA dropped so low that I almost lost my job. So, while I was fighting to not let my grieving take over my life, I was also fighting for my job, and my degree. If I didn’t graduate, then i didn’t have a job. Period.
Until their deaths, I LIVED for the accolades. The more awards and recognitions I received the better. Basically, I surrendered my power to seek approval and “golden sticker” from authority figures. In reality, I didn’t need someone’s acknowledgement to know that I’m good aka enough aka worthy. I was seeking credit for things I didn’t care about, but I needed to shine! Crazy.
Their deaths caused me to look inward. To seek to understand what just happened in my life, who am I, and what am I supposed to do aka am I really living my life? I had an active social life and a nice paying job, but I still felt like something was missing. And so, the two year healing journey began.
From 2008-2010, I embarked on a journey to discover who I am, what I was truly meant to do, and what the heck just happened in my life.
At the end of my spiritual healing journey, I learned the names to the spiritual things I was experiencing as a child, was in a better mental space, and created my business. I wanted to help others who were grieving with the spiritual practices I had became certified in.
Over the years, I’ve hardcore focused on personal growth, including shadow work. Underwent physical changes, such as investing in getting braces at the age of 30! I’ve called back and restored my power, unlocked my magick, defined who I am for myself, broke through countless oppressive mindset believes, and created thus far the life I desired. I’ve embodied the cosmic witch goddess that you see before you today, but it took a lot of work.
I believe that we are like X-Men. We all have wonderful magickal gifts. We just need to understand those gifts, practice using them where we feel safe (confidence building), and then let our gifts shine for the world to see. And, we need a Professor X to help us. I’m Professor X to my students and clients and my business coaches are my Professor X! It all comes full circle!
Because when you better understand yourself and your gifts and overcome blocks, you’ll be unapologetically you, you’ll understand the bigger picture in situations, and negativity is less likely to have an impact in your life. Because you’re living in your truth, you’ll attract the right people in your life! Your frequency will be high vibin’, baby!
No more living by oppressive “society’s standards”, toxic generation mindsets, or in fear.
